Cardijn Community launched in Belgium

The first ever Cardijn Community International group was launched in Belgium on the 21st November 2013 according to a report received from Father Felix Van Meerbergen, Secretary of the CCI-Belgium.

Incidentally, Fr. Felix Van Meerbergen who is a former YCW himself from Cardijn’s home Diocese has spearheaded a campaign for the canonization of Cardinal Cardijn and succeeded in forming a Canonization Committee in Belgium.

The Archbishop of Mallines-Brussels, Most Rev. Andre` Joseph Leonard has extended his support to the cause of canonization of Cardijn and he is due to install the Ecclesiastical Court on the 16th January 2014.

The Archbishop plans to translate the CCI prayer for canonization of Cardijn into Dutch and promote it in Belgium.

Fr. Felix reports that all the Bishops are in support of the cause.

The following are the members of the new team:

Marc Berghman, President
Filip Carpentier, Vice-President
Claudia De Cuyper: Vice-President
Father Felix Van Meerbergen: Secretary
Treasurer: Julien Verhoeven

We wish the new team all the very best.

Reacting joyfully to the launch of CCI in Belgium, Stefan Gigacz, the International President quipped: Now we have organised Cardijn Communities on four continents: Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe. America coming soon!”
